Joseph F. Wilcox, M.D.Dr. Wilcox is a board certified orthopedic surgeon fellowship trained in Sports Medicine.  He has received extensive training in the operative and nonoperative treatment of a wide variety of sports medicine injuries.  He has a strong interest in minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery, and he specializes in the state of the art treatment of cartilage injuries and conditions. 

Dr. Wilcox attended Worthington High School in Worthington, Ohio, and received an appointment to the United States Military Academy where he was a member of the Army Varsity football team.  He transferred after an injury to the University of Cincinnati where he graduated with honors earning a Bachelor of Science.  He was also a member of the Golden Key National Society and was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society.  He attended medical school at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.  He graduated with honors in 1995 and then performed his internship and residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.  He returned to Columbus for an additional year of orthopedic training specializing in sports medicine at The Ohio State University.  During his training, he cared for numerous Division I varsity athletes including football, basketball, wrestling and swimming. 

Dr. Wilcox has served as the team physician for Westerville Central High School for the past five years and is currently the orthopedic consultant for Otterbein College and Kenyon College.  He is also the team physician for the regional Westerville Worms Rugby Team.  He has been very active in orthopedic research and has several published articles. 

He enjoys educating and teaching in the community and has been a guest lecturer at several local high schools and colleges.  He currently resides in Dublin, Ohio, with his wife and three children.  He is interested in a variety of outdoor activities especially mountain biking, skiing and wakeboarding.
